Edison lights up the Times building, and more...
Item # 672625
September 05, 1882
NEW-YORK TIMES, Sept. 5, 1882 The back page begins with a column head: "Edison's Electric Light" " 'The Times' Building Illuminated By Electricity" the details of which take half a column.
A few bits include: "Edison's central station...was...one of the busiest places down town & Mr. Edison was by far the busiest man...giant dynamos were started...they will go on forever unless stropped by an earthquake. One-third of the lower district was lighted up..." and more.
Great to have coverage of lighting the Times building in the Times newspaper.
Complete in 8 pages, various tears at the margins, partially loose at the spine. A bit fragile & should be handled carefully.
