February 10, 1862
DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Virginia, Feb. 10, 1862 Half of the front page is taken up with ads, plus some news from Europe, plus a column headed: "The Northern Congress".
Page 2 has more than two columns taken up with the always-interesting editorial, including in part: "...An unfound panic seems to pervade some parts of North Alabama People there anticipate an immediate descent of a Federal army by the Tennessee river into that state...At Roanoke the Burnside Expedition seems to be doing all that it can to repeat the exploits of Hatteras and Port Royal..." and so much more.
Page two also has war-related reports with: "The Latest Northern News--Movements & Spirit of the War--Condition of the Federal Treasury: No Money--The Apathy of Congress--Whiskey & the Demoralization of the Army". Also: "Reported Expedition of the Enemy Into North Alabama" and "The Extortioners--Speculators in Corn" "The Confederate War Tax "The War On the Western Frontier" "Legislature of Virginia".
More political reporting carries over to page 3 where there are some war items as well under: "Telegraphic News" & elsewhere. Much of the back page is taken up various Acts from the Confederate Congress, many relating directly to the war effort.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, a printing crease near the top of pg. 2 distracts but causes no loss of text, otherwise in nice condition.
