SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN, New York, Sept. 3, 1898

* 1st ever automobile advertisement (historic)
* Horseless carriage

This is a very significant magazine in the history of automobiles, as the noted reference work "Kane's Famous First Facts" notes that the mentioned advertisement was the first automobile ad ever published in America. It is not the first appearance, which was in the issue of July 30, 1898.
A back page advertisement is headed: "The Winton Motor Carriage" manufactured by "The Winton Motor Carriage Co., Cleveland, Ohio". The advertisement is 2 1/4 x 2 inches and includes a small but nice woodcut of the car.
Note also on the back page an advertisement for toy railroad train models by "The Carlisle & Finch Co."
Sixteen pages, nice condition.
