The Presidential election... American Indians: Choctaw, Osage, Creeks...

Item # 672083

December 04, 1824

NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Dec. 4, 1824  Among the articles are: "Presidential Election" which has a chart showing states and votes for each, plus another report of the Alabama votes for President by county.
Also inside: "LaFayette & the Sons of the Forest" being an emotional heart-felt meeting of Choctaw Indian chiefs and General LaFayette, which is ironically followed by: "Trial of the Osages" which describes in detail the accidental but unprovoked killing of white men by a handful of Osage warriors, and the resulting trial.
Additional articles include: "To the Cotton Planters of the U.S."  "Creek Indians" which takes over a full page, and much more.
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, bit of foxing, nice condition.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
