From perhaps the most famous town of the Old West...

Item # 671923

October 31, 1880

THE TOMBSTONE EPITAPH, Arizona, October 31, 1880

* Best Old West title to be had
* Pre Gunfight at the O.K. Corral

Few could argue for a more recognizable title from the Old West, nor could any town be more linked to the romance of the West than this one. Tombstone is steeped in Western lore, and the several movies done concerning the gunfight at the O.K. Corral have kept this town in popular culture. This issue was printed just under a year before the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral. And this is a very early issue, being volume 1, number 96.
The top of the front page features a large, illustrated stage coach ad. Among the front page column heads are: "Renegade Apaches Raiding on the Rio Grande" "The Presidential Party in Colorado--Tide of Travel" "The Forgery Admitted" and more. Over half of pg. 2 is taken up with a detailed article: "THE SUMMIT OF A SIERRA" "Prentice Mulford's Recollection of a Mountain Winter--An Incessant Snowstorm...". The balance of the issue is taken up with news reports and a wealth of advertisements & notices for local businesses.
Complete in 4 pages, archivally rejoined at the spine plus some other archival mends at edges, otherwise in quite nice condition and rarely found as such.
