NEW YORK HERALD, Feb. 22, 1865 Over half of the front page is dominated by a huge map with a very large heading: "OUR FLAG OVER CHARLESTON - Occupation of the City by the Forces of Major General Gillmore & Admiral Dahlgren."
Plus there are many column heads including: "CHARLESTON" "The City & All Its Defences Evacuated by the Rebels" "Its Occupation by the Union Forces" "Upper Part of Charleston on Fire".
