* The Grand Opening of the Erie Canal
Perhaps the best item in this issue is the rather lengthy & historically significant report headed: "The Erie Canal--Meeting of The Waters" which takes 7 1/2 pages to detail the opening of the first part of this famous canal. The photos show just the beginning of the text which takes nearly half the issue.
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches, and is in very nice condition.
As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
