THOMAS'S MASSACHUSETTS SPY; OR THE WORCESTER GAZETTE, Sept. 9, 1790

* President George Washington

The back page has a column taken up with: "Congress of the United States - An Act for the Relief of Disabled Soldiers & Seamen Lately in the Service of the United States..." which is signed in italic type by the President: George Washington, as well as by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson.
The top of page 3 has: "The President's Departure" from New York, then the capital of the United States. He would head for Mount Vernon until his presence was needed at Philadelphia, the new temporary capital of the U.S. for ten years while the District of Columbia was under construction.
Some nice detail of ceremonies.
Four pages, handsome masthead, foxing, nice condition.
