Page 2 has a half column article headed: "Letter From The Diggings" with a dateline from "Valley of the Sacramento". It is a fine, first-hand letter of the situation concerning the gold diggings.
Page 2 also has a black-bordered report: "Death Of Mr. Polk" which begins: "We have the melancholy news to lay before our readers this week, of the death of James K. Polk, ex-President of the United States..." with more.
Page 2 also has: "California Items" concerning the gold rush, and page 3 an article: "Adventure With California Robbers".
Four pages of very large size paper measuring 25 by 33 inches, folded three times, wear at the folds. Folder size noted is for the issue folded in half.
