NEW YORK DAILY TRIBUNE, Feb. 28, 1862

* Battle Hymn of the Republic
* Abolitionist Julia Ward Howe music & lyrics
* "John Brown's Body" song

The back page contains the music & lyrics headed: "A Song That Is Now Rather Popular" being the music of what we now know as the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" with the lyrics being the original: "John Brown's body lies a mould'ring in the grave..." and with the more famous chorus: "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah!...".
Julia Ward Howe wrote her own words to this tune which have remained popular to this day, and were first published in "Atlantic Monthly" magazine in the February, 1862 issue.
Actually this song has an interesting history on how it inspired Julia Ward Howe, detailed in a website.
Various Civil War reports on the interior pages, eight pages, never bound nor trimmed so it folds out to one large sheet, various folds & creases with minor margin wear. Some ftpg. foxing.
