House of Commons invests in establishing the colony of Georgia...

APPLEBEE'S ORIGINAL WEEKLY JOURNAL, London, England, May 19, 1733  A quite rare title which existed from 1720-1737 with most of the news reports on pages 2 and 3.
The news is almost entirely of British interest however the back page has a report noting: "We hear the Honourable House of Commons has been pleased to grant 10,000 pds. towards establishing the new Colony of Georgia in America; and that a gret many families of the Saltzburghers will speedily be sent thither in order to settle in the said Colony."
The bkpg. also has a great engraving for a book: "Escape Out of the Condemn'd Hold of Newgate".
Four pages, 9 1/4 by 14 inches, red tax stamp on the front page, very nice condition.
