A very famous anti-slavery newspaper published by the noted emancipator William Lloyd Garrison. The ornate engraving in the masthead features three scenes: a slave auction, an image of Jesus breaking the bonds of the oppressors, and a slave family about to depart for their journey to emancipation.
Among the reports: "A Vile Copperhead Libel" "The Port Royal Scandal" "The Impurity of Slavery" "The Action of General Banks" "A Colored Female Lecturer" "Th Emancipation Proclamation--The First Draft--Mr. Blair's & r. Seward's Objections to it--The Last Sentence Supplied by Mr. Chase" "The Crusade Against Color" "The Fifty-Fourth Regiment" "Brutal Rebel Outrage" and so much more.
Four pages, never bound nor trimmed, some discrete archival mends at folds & margins with a repaired hole at a fold juncture, good condition. Folder size noted is for the issue folded in half.
