October 05, 1889

OUR BROTHER IN RED, Muskogee, Indian Territory, Oct. 5, 1889

* Very rare publication

This would become the state of Oklahoma in 1907. A quite uncommon title meant for the Indians in the territory. The motto in the masthead notes: "Christian Education the Hope of the Indian."
This title is not noted in Gregory's "Union List of Newspapers", nor are any held by the American Antiquarian Society (although this date might be out of their scope of interest). This is the first of this title we have offered.
Eight pages, many older tape mends along with more recent archival mends, partially rejoined at the spine, some loss at the margins of the central fold. Generally in "2nd rate" condition, yet a quite rare, scarce title.
