War reports from a Confederate newspaper in Columbia...

Item # 668807

December 09, 1864

THE DAILY SOUTHERN GUARDIAN, Columbia, South Carolina, Dec. 9, 1864

* VERY RARE rebel publication

A rather rare title and great that it includes the word “Southern”.
The front page has reports from the Confederate Congress, plus: "What Discourages the Soldiers" "Gallant Affair Near Moorefield" and other items.
The back page has: "The War News--From Richmond" 'Hood's Advance on Nashville" "From the North--Hood's--Campaign" "Banks to Lord It Over New Orleans Again" "Hood's Intentions" and more.
Complete as a single sheet issue with very wide, untrimmed margins. A very small library stamp above the masthead, paper weakness in the dateline causes minor loss, otherwise very nice condition.

Item from Catalog 297 (released for August, 2020)...
