April 15, 1912

OAKLAND TRIBUNE, California, April 15, 1912  Obviously this is a very early report concerning the Titanic tragedy (most newspapers had their first report dated April 16) as the banner headline reads: "TITANIC'S Passengers Saved; Liner SINKING" as well as: "Ill-Fated Vessel Begins To Founder While Limping Toward Halifax After All Aboard Are Rescued".
Simply a terrific issue with this dramatic--and erroneous--headline, plus it includes a photo of the: "Giant Liner Titanic...which collided with an iceberg last night in mid-ocean while on her maiden voyage."
Other heads include: "Monster of Ocean Badly Damaged by Collision With Iceberg; Many Notables on List" "Wireless Calls for Help Crash Out in Night, Calling Greyhounds of Sea to Stand By".
The text is interesting reading as it is filled with much false information.
Terrific issue exhibiting how early reports can get a story entirely wrong. Present are pages 1-8 of an 18 page issue, likely section one of a two section newspaper. Some minor margin tears as to be expected, generally in very nice, displayable condition.
