This is the famous anti-slavery newspaper by famed abolitionist publisher William Lloyd Garrison. The masthead features two engravings, one of a slave auction and the other showing slaves being emancipated.
A fine issue from the closing days of the Civil War. The most notable content is the report on the capture of Richmond which includes: "Rejoicing in Boston Over the News" as well as various dispatches--2 signed in type by A. Lincoln--on the news, one noting in part: "We took Richmond at 8:15 this morning. I captured many guns. The enemy left in great haste..." with more.
Other articles include: "Negro Soldiers, North & South" "Hatred of Jeff Davis" "Sherman's Army in South Carolina" 'Reel Adulation of the Black Man" "Off For Charleston!" and so much more.
Four pages, some foxing, good condition.
