* Abraham Lincoln fires General McClellan

The ftpg. has a report on the: "Ericsson Battery" noting in part: "The iron-clad steamer Monitor went on another trial trip...to test her steering qualities...Her steering qualities are all that could be desired...The guns were fired to test...whether the concussion within the turret would not be so great as to injure seriously the ears of the men...This is the same vessel that recently bored a hole through the audacious iron-sided rebel, the Merrimac and sent him whizzing back to his nest."
Page 2 has the directive signed in type by: Abraham Lincoln removing General McClellan as commander-in-chief.
