* Repeal of the Stamp Act celebration disaster
The back page has a letter from Burlington, New Jersey, offering thanks for the repeal of the hated Stamp Act. A portion includes: "...On hearing the joyful news of the repeal of the stamp act, about 3 half-barrels of powder were provided...a negro boy, seeing some powder scattered on the ground, scraped some of it together & set fire to it...went off with a terrible explosion, tore the house to pieces..." with much more on the horrible consequences, including: "...two of those were supposed to be driven through the window into the air & were thrown a considerable distance from the house...".
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, nice condition.
