With the ftpg. taken up with ads, page 5 has various column heads relating to the early events of the Civil War: "The Star of the West Fired Into" "She is Obliged to Put to Sea" "A Flag of Truce from Fort Sumter and more.
The 'Star of the West' was an American civilian steamship that was hired by the government of the United States to transport military supplies and reinforcements to the U.S. military garrison of Fort Sumter. A battery on Morris Island, South Carolina manned by cadets from the South Carolina Military Academy (now The Citadel) fired upon the ship, effectively the first shots fired in the American Civil War.
Also a brief report headed: "The Mississippi State Convention" saying "...ordinance for immediate secession of the State has passed the Convention by a vote of 84 to 15...".
