THE GLOCESTER JOURNAL, England, Oct. 3, 1768 

* Colonial America reporting

(currently spelled Gloucester)  Page 2 has a letter from Philadelphia noting in part: "...arrived here from Fort Pitt & informs us that the garrison were very healthy about a fortnight ago...has been exploring the heads of the Mississippi, the Scioto, and Lake Superior...went 1500 miles to the westward of Michillimackinac & traveled 1100 miles on Lake Superior..." and more. Then reports from the Virginia Gazette.
Page 3 has a petition from Massachusetts to tie King complaining about the conduct of the Royal Governor Francis Bernard, noting in part: "...who has betrayed an arbitrary disposition...he has...treated the representative body with contempt...has openly attempted to make himself sold & absolute judge of the qualification of members returned to serve in the House of Representatives...has...charged both houses of assembly with oppugnation against the royal authority..." and so much more, ultimately asking for his removal from office.
Four pages, a very nice & decorative masthead featuring engravings on either side. Partial red tax stamp on the ftpg., nice condition.
