THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 7, 1941

* Lou Gehrig memorial dedication at Yankee Stadium
* Joe DiMaggio hitting streak continues
* New York Yankees - MLB baseball

The sport's section (page 19) has two column headings: "Monument to Gehrig Is Dedicated; Mayor Eulogizes Late Yankee Ace" "'Lou Typifies All That Is Good in American Manhood,' La Guardia Says--McCarthy and Dickey Unveil Memorial at Stadium" with related photo. First report coverage Lou Gehrig's monument dedication at Yankee Stadium.
Also a nice banner headline on the same page reads: "60,948 See DiMaggio Get 6 Hits to Run String to 48 Games as Yanks Win Two" (doubleheader) with subheads and box scores. Great to have in this famous NYC publication.
Complete with all 32 pages, rag edition in great condition.

wikipedia notes: The Yankees dedicated a monument to Gehrig in center field at Yankee Stadium on July 6, 1941, the shrine lauding him as, "A man, a gentleman and a great ballplayer whose amazing record of 2,130 consecutive games should stand for all time." Gehrig's monument joined the one placed there in 1932 to Miller Huggins, which would eventually be followed by Babe Ruth's in 1949.
