NEW YORK TIMES, Oct. 31, 1865 and HARPER'S WEEKLY, November 18, 1865 

* 1865 Philadelphia Baseball Game

A two issue set
containing a report of famous baseball game, and a print of it.
Page 5 of the Times has: "The Great Base Ball Match The Atlantics Against the Athletics--The Atlantics the Victors". Details from the one paragraph summary include: "The Atlantics made eleven fly-catches and two home runs, and the Athletics eight fly-catches and one home run. The Atlantics were skunked once, and the Athletics four times...". Mentions there was an immense crowd, that the weather was pleasant, and the game lasted 3 1/2 hours. This includes the box score. Other news of the day and advertisements are within.
The Harper's Weekly issue has a half-page illustration of that game captioned: "Base-Ball Match Between the 'Athletics', of Philadelphia, PA., and the 'Atlantics' of Brooklyn, N.Y., Played at Philadelphia, October 30, 1865". Also a short article which includes: "...The two clubs engaged in the contest are considered the best in the country...".
The New York Times is complete in 8 pages and in very nice condition. The Harper's Weekly is complete in 16 pages and is also in very nice condition.
