September 16, 1777

THE LONDON EVENING POST, England, Sept. 16, 1777  A great issue for American content as the entirety of page 2 is taken up with: "Authentic Intelligence from America".
Most of the content can be seen in the photos as too much to detail here, but a few comments regarding events at Lake George; mention that: "...300 Tories belonging to General Delancy's brigade at Fort Independence have deserted and joined General Putnam's army near Peekskill..."; a letter from Corell's Ferry signed in type by: B. Arnold; reports datelined from Portsmouth, Fishkill, New Bern, NC., Hartford, Philadelphia, Morristown, Williamsburg; also a letter from his headquarters at Morristown signed in type by: G. Washington; a letter from General David Forman on events in New Jersey; a letter from General St. Clair to Congress from Fort Edward taking a full column with much detail; a report from a meeting held at Ticonderoga involving General St. Clair & others, etc.
Additionally, over half of the back page is also taken up with American news, beginning with a resolve from Mass. that: "...all the militia within this states from 16 years old & upwards, be...to equip themselves with every thing necessary for immediate action & to hold themselves in readiness to march at a minute's warning to any place..." with more. Also reports from Boston, Hartford, Philadelphia; a letter from "a gentleman at Camp"; a letter from Governor Tryon concerning events at Staten Island; a nice "Letter from Gen. Washington to Congress dated camp at Middle Brook" on the latest events, followed by yet another letter from him, and then a short note as well. All 3 correspondences are signed in type: G. Washington.
Much more also!
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, nice condition.
