THE LONDON EVENING POST, England, August 16, 1777 The front page has an interesting & pessimistic view of England's involvement in the war, including: "...that the campaign which was to ensue would soon be over; that very little exertion of military force would be necessary to put an end to the entire subjugation of America & bringing the colonies to the feet of the Minister...no progress has been made...that General Howe has been obliged to give over all thoughts of making an attack upon Washington & has been forced to abandon the Jersey..." and more.
Page 3 has more on the war with some fine content, mentions include Howe, Cornwallis, Prescott, Lee and others. See the photos for the text.
The back page has additional war content including items concerning Ticonderoga & events in Canada. And one bit from New York notes: "...the King's troops evacuated Amboy and came to Staten Island, and the next day his Excellency Sir William Howe with his suite arrived here."
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, nice condition.
