July 01, 1777

THE LONDON EVENING POST, England, July 1, 1777

* Revolutionary War Era
* 18th century original
* From The Enemy

Page 2 has a letter from the people of Newport, Rhode Island to General Percy concerning Percy's forces leaving Rhode Island, with Percy's response.
Page 3 has several war-related items including: "...It is admitted...that Mr. Washington is so strong in Jersey, General Howe does not intend to oppose him there...The most that General Howe expects to do in Jersey is to maintain his post at Brunswick..." and more.
One-quarter of the back page is taken up with a very fine, detailed account prefaced with: "The besieging Philadelphia, and General Carleton's march from Quebec through Albany, being topics of conversation, let us accompany the two Generals in these military enterprizes and explain the difficulties to be surmounted by each." A very unusual look at what is presumed to be future events. The two headings are: "The March to Philadelphia" and: "The March from Quebec through Albany, etc."
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on page 3, very nice condition.

Item from Catalog 346 (released for September, 2024)
