More on Prevost's defeat... A letter criticizing the war in America...

THE LONDON EVENING POST, England, Aug. 17, 1779 The bottom of page 3 has a report noting: "...brings...a confirmation of the defeat of Prevost and that that General would have met with the fate of Burgoyne had it not been for the boats he had on the river, in which he caused to be embarked the small number of troops that escaped the sword of the Americans."
The back page has a full column letter "To Lord North", quite critical of the war in America. One bit notes: "It is impossible to speak of the continuance of the war in North America without the deepest concern, but we have given such unquestionable proofs of our sincere disposition to put an end to these troubles...".
Also a back page report: "...that General Prevost, in the engagement lost 650 men; that he fled about 12 miles in the night; and they expected to hear that the whole of his army would be made prisoners."
Four pages, folio size, never-trimmed margins, red tax stamp on the front page, a bit irregular at the spine, nice condition.
