THE CONNECTICUT COURANT & WEEKLY INTELLIGENCER, Hartford, Feb. 12, 1782

* American Revolutionary War closing events
* George Washington & Thomas Jefferson

The inside pages have various reports concerning the Revolutionary War, including: "...nothing but the utter destruction of the Carolinas was talked of by the ministry & their creatures; but since the French have blocked up the Chesapeake & landed 8000 troops, they can condescend to think it very well if Lord Cornwallis should be lucky enough to effect his escape back to New York."
Further on: "The important dispatches that are hourly expected to arrive from Lord Cornwallis will, no doubt, enable government to form a decisive opinion as to the probability or improbability of recovering our colonies in America...".
Then there is a report noting in part: "...Our advance under Lt. Col. Hampton charged a party of the enemy on this side of the new bridge...The enemy's whole horse came out immediately after this but were driven back...Their principal force lay at Goose Creek...having left Monk's Corner...That night they burnt their stores at Dorchester and all their army retired to the quarter-house on Charlestown Neck...They have a post at Stono Ferry to cover John's Island...The enemy's post at Beaufort is evacuated & all the cannon, stores & baggage at Ebenezer are removed to Savannah..." with more.
Further on: "...The general assembly of Virginia have resolved that their sincere thanks be given to their former Governor, Thomas Jefferson, Esq., for his impartial, upright & attentive administration whilst in office. The house of delegates of Virginia...have, in very handsome terms, voted their thanks to the illustrious General Washington..." and others mentioned, "...for their glorious services to the United States in general, & to the Commonwealth of Virginia in particular...". Quite rare to find mention of Thomas Jefferson from during the war.
Page 3 has additional items relating to the war.
