* Confederate capital - war nears the end


One of the middle columns of the front page announces one of the more significant events of the Civil War with: "VIRGINIA ! " "GLORIOUS NEWS ! " "Richmond Is Ours!" "Evacuation of Petersburg!" "Tremendous Fighting!" "Lee's Entire Army Is Routed" and more. Above the column heads is a nice engraving of an eagle on the U.S. shield. Many war-related reports on inside pages as well.
Eight pages, never-trimmed margins, nice condition.
