* Very rare American Revolutionary War publication

A truly rare title from the Revolutionary War, as it lasted for less than 1 1/2 years from March, 1779 to August, 1781. This issue is volume 1, number 32.
Page 2 has: "By the King. A Proclamation" which begins: "Whereas we have received intelligence that preparations are making by our enemies to invade this our kingdom...". Also on pg. 2 are various reports from Charleston, one item concerning: "...return of General Mackintosh from the northward into Georgia, a military force is collecting in the interior part of that country...", then a report concerning British ships in port at Beaufort & elsewhere. Another item notes in part: "...a party of the enemy below Briar Creek...of whom they killed five, sounded five & took four prisoners...Among the wounded was a Lieut. Jones of Col. Moore's loyalists...".
Other new includes in part: "...the Ministry are so elated with the success of our forces in Georgia that they have o doubt of reducing the two Carolinas this campaign...Lord North...bring two bills into Parliament; one for the confiscation of all lands of Rebels..." with details.
Many additional reports from Congress including many notes of thanks to General Washington, General Stirling, Major Lee for their successful military efforts (see). And that John Jay is appointed ambassador to France, that Samuel Huntingdon is elected president of Congress, then a letter signed in type by: John Jay. Another item notes: "...received letters from General Washington...making a requisition of a number of seamen...in the prosecution of his great plans..." with more. Capt. James Nicholson is appointed to command the frigate Trumbull & Capt. Thomas Read to command the new Continental frigate Bourbon.
Page 3 includes a document beginning: "Whereas it appears very probable, from the motions of the enemy, that they are about to evacuate Newport..." with more.
Four pages, wide never-trimmed margins, very nice condition.
