A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederacy. Among the front page items on the Civil War are: "From Gloucester" "The Situation at Fredericksburg" "Officers' Horses & Mules" "Latest News From the North" "City Intelligence" "Bombardment of Vicksburg" "Telegraphic News" and other smaller items.
The back page includes a very lengthy editorial beginning; "The Confederate Senate has resolved with singular unanimity that the President should issue a proclamation to dissuade the people...from the further cultivation of cotton & tobacco & to enjoin upon them the production of grain...". Other topics are discussed in this editorial as well.
Also on the bkpg. are: "A Northern View of the Folly of the War" "and much reporting of: "The Confederate Congress" & the "Virginia Legislature".
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a banner masthead, in very nice, clean condition.
