A very nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederate States of America.
Among the front page war-related items are: "From Beaver Dam", "From Madison and Orange", "The Shelling of Hamilton, North Carolina", "Exchange of Prisoners", "From Charlottesville", "Latest News From the North--The Great War Meeting in New York--Efforts to Drum Up More Men--Inflammatory Speeches--Letters from President Lincoln, Seward, Sumner, Edward Everett, & Others--The Border State Representatives on Emancipation" and included in this very lengthy article is the letter from each, beginning with one signed in type by: A. Lincoln.
The back page has a very lengthy editorial which touches upon several topics, beginning: "There are a number of people in the South who are detained from active participation in the war by the confines of age or family..." and further all is: "Desertions from the army are already numerous & the country must do what it can to repair the evil...". Also on the back page are: "A Deserter shot", "The Victory of Manassas", "The Courts" and "City Intelligence" among various smaller items and various advertisements.
Complete as a single sheet newspaper with a full banner masthead, in very nice, clean condition.
