THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, Aug. 7, 1813

* re. Captain James Lawrence death
* re. USS Chesapeake v. HMS Shannon

Nearly 7 pages are taken up with: "Events of  the War" within which are "Battle of Beaver Dam" "Retirement of Maj. Gen. Dearborn" "Military", a letter from Chilicothe, "Chesapeake and Shannon" which concerns the famous naval battle. In the article is: "...The second broadside, capt. Lawrence (with every other officer on the upper deck who was not killed) was mortally wounded and fell exclaiming 'fire away my lads.'...", which is likely a corruption of the very famous quote of his: "Don't give up the ship!". More war-related content as well.
Sixteen pages, 6 by 9 1/2 inches, very nice condition.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
