May 20, 1815

NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, May 20, 1815  Inside under: "War Events" is the official: "Proclamation" by the King of England ending the War of 1812, beginning: "Whereas a treaty of peace and friendship between his majesty and the United States of America hath been concluded at Ghent on the 24th day of December..." with more. This is followed by more concerning the end of the war.
Also an item headed: "Live The Constitution!" which begins: "Our glorious ship, the Constitution, has arrived at New York, all well. We have yet but few particulars of her cruize but it does not appear she did the British any damage since her capture of the Cyane and Levant..." with more.
Included with this issue is the 8 page "Supplement" which is filled with military reports, including a section headed: "War Events"
Complete in 24 pages with the Supplement, 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches, lite scattered foxing, otherwise in very good condition.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
