September 11, 1824

NILES' WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, September 11, 1824  Inside has: "Explosion of The 'Advocate' " which is 4 1/2 pages of detail on the troubles of Mordecai Noah and his newspaper the "National Advocate", including 3 letters signed by him in type: M.M. Noah.  
In 1825 Noah become noted for his Zionist efforts in creating a homeland refuge for the Jews on Grant Island in the Niagara River.
Also of note is: "The Nation's Guest" which concerns the tour by General La Fayette of the United States, noting his arrival at New York from Boston, with some detail. The bkpg. has an article on a captured runaway slave & an attempt by a crowd to free him.
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches, very nice, clean condition.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
