NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, July 2, 1842 

* Dorr Rebellion - Rhode Island arsenal attack

Pages 4, 5 & 6 have much on the follow-up to the Dorr Rebellion, including talk calling for a convention correct the problem with voting restrictions in Rhode Is. (cause of the Dorr Rebellion). Also reports on the whereabouts of Thomas Dorr including: "...The enemy to the number of 700 are entrenching themselves on Alcot's Hill...They have about 10 cannon and plenty of arms & ammunition. Mr. Dorr is expected to reach the encampment this day...". Also a Proclamation establishing martial law in Rhode Is, and including: "...And I do warn all persons against any intercourse of connexion with the TRAITOR THOMAS WILSON DORR or his deluded adherents now assembled in arms against the laws & government of this state..." Then a letter signed by: Thomas W. Dorr and much more on this including a bit that: "...Dorr fled last evening at 7 o'clock with fifty men in the direction of Connecticut..." with more.
Sixteen pages, 8 1/2 by 12 inches, great condition.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
