The French & Indian War... Map of Emden, Germany...

Item # 642772 THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, April, 1758  A rather lengthy article inside this issue begins: "The experience of the campaigns in 1755 and 1756 had convinced our commanders in chief that there would be no end of the war on either side so long as our armies aimed at nothing further than traversing from place to place either for the defence or attack of a few straggling forts in a woody country. This method of making war is even more unpromising on the frontiers of these colonies..." with much more (portions shown in the photos). Another interesting article begins by explaining the vast difference of warfare in America from experiences in Europe. This article takes 5 pages.
Included is a fullpg. plate which includes a: "Plan of Emden" which is a port town in Germany, and a broader view of the greater Emden vicinity including the harbor, the Ems River, and surrounding towns. Present is an accompanying article on Emden as well.
Complete in 50 pages, wide untrimmed margins, full title/index page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate, 6  by 9 in., great condition. Two of the three plates called for are present.
