Page 5 has a report from a Pennsylvania newspaper with some talk of prison ships, and the destination of some of the British departing the colonies (see). The back page has a letter from New York reporting how: "...America is more internally weak at this moment than almost at any other period of the war. However paradoxical this may appear after their late success, the fact is true.." with more on this. ending with: "...had it not been for the French land force...Mr. Washington with all his boasted continental strength, could not have effected any thing to purpose against Lord Cornwallis." Also mention of the death of Lt. Gen. Frazer, who was the son of Lord Loat who was beheaded on Tower Hill for his part in the Jacobite Rebellion in 1746.
The bkpg. has a nice letter from New York noting in part: "...know that America is more internally weak at this moment than almost at any other period of the war..." with mention of French assistance, then: "...without such pecuniary assistance they must remain too poor to carry on the war of themselves & had it not been for French...Mr. Washington, with all his boasted continental strength, could not have effected any thing to purpose against Lord Cornwallis...".
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/2 inches, nice condition.
