Most of the front page is taken up with reports on the trial of the commandant of the infamous Andersonville, South Carolina, prison camp, Henry Wirz, with headlines: "TRIAL OF CAPT. WIRZ" "Preliminaries Settled & Witnesses Called" "He is Abundantly Supplied With Able Counsel" "Full Report of the Testimony Taken Yesterday" and more.
This text actually takes over two-thirds of the front page, with considerable detail of the trial.
Also on the front page are related heads including: "Return of the Andersonville Burial Party" "Their Report Upon the Condition of that Earthly Hell" "The Graves of 13,000 Martyrs Identified" "The Old Prison Pen Carefully Preserved as the Rebels Left It" and more, taking a full column & carrying over to pg. 2.
