THE CLEVELAND HERALD, Ohio, September 24, 1881
* President James S. Garfield death
* Best title to have
See the photos for one of the more graphic presentations of a presidential funeral. Perhaps not surprisingly because Garfield was from Cuyahoga County, the county of Cleveland, making this essentially his "hometown" newspaper.
The first column has some nice heads as well including: "COMING HOME" "From the Scene of Many Triumphs" "To Ohio That He Loved Me So Well" "The Remains of the Late President" "Lying in State in the Great Capitol" and much more (see).
The entire font page and more inside are taken up with reports of the Garfield funeral including a page 4 illustration of Garfield.
Complete in 8 pages, never bound nor trimmed, various tears & fraying at the margins, a few creases, and wear at the central fold.
