Item # 629872 THE GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London,  September, 1793  The prime content would be the various letters and articles concerning the Siege of Toulon, and Admiral Samuel Hood's taking of the city. Included are 3 letters signed in type: Hood.
Included are both full page plates called for, one showing very early coins.
Complete in 96 pages, 5 by 8 inches, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, great condition.


A very nice magazine from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
