Item # 629047 GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, June, 1793   Included is a nice full page print of a: "View of Matlock" in England with a related article. Also a full page plate of a: "View Near Caplow Wood, 8 Miles from Hereford". Among the articles are: "Minutes of the Proceedings of the National Convention of France" concerning the French Revolution, continued from a previous issue & taking over 3 pages. Various news reports near the back has just a short bit headed: "America" but which is interesting: "Our legislature in their late session have passed an act for levying a tax of 50 dollars a night upon ll theatrical performances in the city of Philadelphia." Complete in 104 pages, 5 by 8 inches, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, great condition.

This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
