GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, September, 1788  A nice feature of this issue is the full page plate captioned: "The North East View of Shrewsbury Castle" with a detailed article as well. Among other articles is: "A Prophecy Relative to American Remarkably Fulfilled".
Perhaps the most notable content is near the back headed: "America - Grand Federal Procession at Philadelphia" which is a continued report from the previous issue. There is much detail taking over 2 pages to describe the procession to celebrate the 4th of July and the adoption of the new federal Constitution (see).
In addition to the plate noted above, the other two plates called for are present..
Complete in 92 pages, full title/contents page with an engraving of St. John's Gate, 5 by 8 1/4 inches, great condition.

This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
