Item # 611272

July 10, 1875

ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, Missouri, July 10, 1875

* Outlaws attempt to rob train
* Ad - P. T. Barnum's "Great Roman Hippodrome" circus

The back page has 1 2/3 of a column taken up with great & detailed content concerning the train robbery at Long Point, Illinois, with heads at the top of the column: "PULL OUT!" "An Express Train on the Vandalia Road Board by Robbers" "A Faithful Engineer Shot Dead by the Miscreants" "Long Point Watertank the Scene of the Tragedy" "the Desperadoes Foiled by a Brave Express Messenger" and more (see). An uncommonly lengthy & detailed account. Also on the back page is nearly half a column on baseball: "Ball And Bat" "Louisville Eagles Treated to a Nest of Goose Eggs" and more. And an ad for P. T. Barnum's "Great Roman Hippodrome" circus.
Eight pages, very nice, clean condition.
