Page 2 has an article headed: "Boxing" concerning a rematch between noted boxers Daniel Mendoza and Richard Humphreys with a letter from the latter to Mendoza: "...shall meet you at the time & place appointed when I hope to find that you are in earnest & that I am not again to be trifled with." and also: "...conditions required by Mendoza are that the battle shall take place on a turf 40 feet square & that the first who falls without a knock-down blow shall lose..." with more details (see).
Daniel Mendoza was a famous Jewish boxer who transformed the English stereotype of a Jew from a weak, defenseless person into someone deserving of respect. He is said to have been the first Jew to talk to the King, George III. He was the British boxing champion from 1792-1795.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 1/4 inches, very nice condition.
