THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Aug. 13, 1765

* Early New Orleans, Louisiana description

The back page has a letter from Pensacola with some good information concerning New Orleans. It includes: "I am afraid this place will not answer fully our expectation: If we had had the island of New Orleans, this would soon be the first province in America, but without it we shall be slow in our progress to flourishing...New Orleans is a very large and a pleasant town, the country round it is extremely fertile...sugar grows in the isle of New Orleans..." with more on New Orleans.
Eight pages, 8 1/4 by 11 1/4 inches, foxing & minor wear at the margins, generally good.
