THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, September 17, 1774

* South Carolina joins rest of colonies in tensions w/ British
* Boston Port Bill

Page 3 ha a letter from Boston relaying the plight resulting from the Boston Port Bill (see). Another page has a terrific letter attacking the "insolence" of the American people concerning taxation and their plight from the Boston Port Bill. this is great reading! (see) It begins: "The inconsistencies of the Boston agents & American emissaries are beyond example. For this month past they have been bullying & insulting us with the plenty they enjoyed...That that was the 40th day of their ports having been shut & notwithstanding this they want for nothing, they fear nothing, they will pay nothing for the private property they have destroyed, nor make the smallest submission to our government; but set us at open defiance..." with much more.
Also in this issue is nearly a page of reporting from Charleston noting their concerns regarding relations with England, and their resolve to join with the other colonies to oppose the tyranny of the British, and to attend the First Continental Congress in Philadelphia. Much great reading here as well! (see)
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, partial red tax stamp on pg. 4, very nice condition.
