Brigham Young warns the army to leave or be annihilated...

Item # 565712

April 15, 1858

THE CIRCULAR, Oneida, New York, April 15, 1858  This is an uncommon periodical published by the Oneida Community, a Utopian commune founded by John Humphrey Noyes in 1848 in Oneida. The community believed that Jesus Christ had already returned in the year 70, making it possible for them to bring about Christ's millennial kingdom themselves, and be free of sin and perfect in this world, not just heaven.
Page 3 has a brief article headed: "From Utah" which reads: "It is reported by Alexander Conant, lately arrived at St. Joseph, Mo., from Fort Kearney, that Brigham Young had notified Col. Johnston to leave the territory of Utah by the 10th of March, otherwise that his troops would be annihilated. Young had also tendered to the army sufficient provisions to last them to the States." (see).
Four pages, nice condition.
