Page 2 has a brief report noting: "Friday his Majesty was pleased to confer the honour of Knighthood on Joshua Reynolds, Esq., President of the Royal Academy of Paining, etc. He is the first Limner who has had that honour conferred on him since the reign of Charles II." (see). Sir Joshua Reynolds was one of the more notable artists of the 18th century.

Complete in four pages, never-trimmed margins, full red-inked tax stamp on the ftpg., light rubbing to the ftpg., very nice condition.

wikipedia notes: Sir Joshua Reynolds RA FRS FRSA (16 July 1723 – 23 February 1792) was an important and influential 18th century English painter, specialising in portraits and promoting the "Grand Style" in painting which depended on idealisation of the imperfect. He was one of the founders and first President of the Royal Academy. George III appreciated his merits and knighted him in 1769.
