A  very rare opportunity to own a complete set of state-of- the-union addresses of every president from George Washington through Bill Clinton! This set of 43 issues was years in the making and the time & cost to assemble a like collection would be difficult and expensive at best.

Each of these newspapers contain one of the annual state-of-the-union address for each of the 43 presidents beginning with George Washington. Since W.H. Harrison and James Garfield never lived long enough to give a state-of-the-union address (Harrison died within a month of taking office; Garfield about 6 months) we include  newspapers announcing their death or funeral  to make the set complete.

In the 20th century with the advent of radio and television the complete text was not often printed in daily newspapers, however the issues selected have extracts of the speeches and editorial comments concerning them, whereas earlier issues printed the addresses verbatim with each signed in type by the president.
