Nellie Bly completes her around the world trip...

HARPER'S WEEKLY, New York, Feb. 8, 1890  Although not accompanied by an illustration, perhaps the most interesting article is: "Around The World In Seventy-Three Days" which is a report on the adventure of Nellie Bly, the reporter for the New York 'World' newspaper who set out to turn the fictional 'Around the World in Eighty Days' by Jules Vernes into fact for the first time.
Prints in this issue include a full ftpg: "Station Scene in Rush Hours on Manhattan Elevated Railroad"; a nearly halfpg. western scene by F. Remington regarding Aztec warriors which accompanies the story: "The Aztec Treasure House"; a full page on: "The New President of Columbia College & Some of His Associates", he being Seth Law; a doublepage centerfold with  15 portraits captioned: "...Portraits of the Chief Justices From the Formation Of The Court & the Present Associate Justices" (see). The former justices are John Jay, Oliver Ellsworth, John Marshall, and Roger Taney. The current justice shown is Salmon P. Chase.
Other prints include: "Struck Gas"; a halfpg: "La Champagne Passing Through an Ice Field on Her Last Voyage from Havre to New York"' a halfpg: "The Torpedo Boat 'Cushing' of the United States Navy"; a nearly half pg. of: "General William Tecumseh Sherman"
Included also is the 'Supplement' issue which has 4 pages on: "How Uncle Sam Makes His Paper Money" and which includes 7 illustrations, including "The Macerator" showing how old money is destroyed.
